The Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) is a detailed list of transportation projects that have federal and state funding. The Metropolitan TIP must be developed in coordination with the State and any affected public transportation operator, approved by the Governor, and incorporated into the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). The Metropolitan TIP includes funding information and the anticipated schedule for highway, public transit, rail, bicycle, and pedestrian projects. The TIP must be updated at least every four years per federal regulations and must match the STIP in order for projects to receive funding.
The French Broad River MPO's 2012-2020 TIP is now official. The TAC adopted the TIP at their October 27, 2011 meeting.
See the 2012-2020 STIP here (PDF file of STIP for the entire state of North Carolina); You can also use the Project Search Tool to look for a specific project.
See proposed 2012-2020 TIP February 2012 Amendment here; FBRMPO TAC will be adopting the proposed amendment on February 23, 2012. You can email mpo@landofsky.org with comments or come to the TAC meeting on February 23rd.
The MPO is already working on projects for the next TIP; a long list of potential projects was evaluated and 14 projects were selected by the MPO. These projects are assigned points based on their importance; FBRMPO chose 12 projects to award the maximum points (100), and 2 projects tied for the remaining points each received 50 points. The ranking took place at the joing TCC/TAC meeting on October 27th, 2011.
