The French Broad River Metropolitan Planning Organization (FBRMPO) is updating the regions Metropolitan Transportation Plan called MTP 2045. We recently engaged the FBRMPO region is a survey to identify desired transportation improvements and priorities, both broadly and specific to plotted locations. Thanks to all who participated. The Metropolitan Transportation Plan (formerly called the Long Range Transportation Plan) will define the policies, programs and projects to be implemented over the next 25 years in order to reduce congestion, improve safety, support land use plans, and provide mobility choices in the FBRMPO planning area. It also addresses the goals and objectives of the FBRMPO, the various components of the transportation planning process, socio-economic and financial assumptions, and transportation-related environmental and health issues.
As the designated regional transportation planning entity for all of Henderson and the urbanized portions of Buncombe, Haywood, Madison and Transylvania counties, the FBRMPO is responsible for the long range transportation planning efforts for the region. The FBRMPO, in partnership with the federal, state, and local agencies, works collaboratively to address the transportation needs of the region.
