Complete Streets Subcommittee

Complete Streets Subcommittee to the French Broad River MPO was created by the Transportation Advisory Committee in November 2010.  The first meeting was held on June 15th, 2011.  The group is tasked with working on a Complete Streets Policy and related recommendations for the MPO.  This subcommittee makes recommendations to TCC and TAC for adoption.

    Regional Bicycle Plan Kick-off Meeting took place on Wednesday, November 30th, 1:00 PM at the Haywood Community College High-Tech Center. See more info and fill out an online survey here.

    Prioritization of Bicycle and Pedestrian Projects for addition to the Transportation Improvement Program has been finished.  The following top five pedestrian and top five bicycle projects have been selected for submission to NCDOT as recommended for programming into the TIP/ STIP.

    • NACTO Urban Bikeway Design Guide provides transportation planners and engineers with new tools for bicycle-friendly roadway design
    • At the federal level, complete streets policy not incorporated in the draft MAP 21 Transportation Reauthorization bill; however complete streets projects will be eligible for Transportation Mobility program.  Read further.
