JOB ACCESS/REVERSE COMMUTE (JARC) AND NEW FREEDOM PROGRAM GRANT FUNDING AVAILABLE
The MPO adopted the Coordinated Public Transportation and Human Services Transportation plan on April 17, 2008, and released the application for funding for JARC and New Freedom projects Friday, April 18, 2008.  All projects must be in response to needs, gaps, or barriers identified in the plan
The funding application is available here or at www.landofsky.org.  The applications will be due to Land of Sky Regional Council by NOON on May 16, 2008.  [Added 4/18/08]

COORDINATED PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION AND HUMAN SERVICES TRANSPORATION PLAN ADOPTED
The MPO TAC adotped its Coordinated Public Transportation and Human Services Transportation Plan at their April 17, 2008 meeting. The MPO will have Job Access/Reverse Commute grant funds and New Freedom program grant funds from the Federal Transit Administration.  The plan is available

DRAFT TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM:  The North Carolina Department of Transportation released the Draft Transportation Improvement Program for 2009-2015 [added 12/21/07] - Link to NCDOT Web Site


COMPREHNSIVE TRANSPORTATION PLAN:   The Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP) maps have been finalized.  The draft maps were reviewed by the technical committee (TCC) in October and adopted by the policy board (TAC) in November.

About Us:
    
The French Broad River Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is the transportation planning agency serving the urbanized areas of Buncombe County, Haywood County, and Henderson County, North Carolina.  The MPO is made up of the eighteen local governments in these three counties, plus a number of local, state, and federal agencies.  The MPO works cooperatively with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) to plan improvements to the transportation system in the area.  

The MPO is responsible for developing long range transportation plans, and setting local priorities for transportation improvements.  Transportation planning covers all modes of transportation including highways, public transit, and bicycle and pedestrian facilities. 

The MPO serves as a forum for public participation.  The MPO staff, the Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) and the Technical Coordinating Committee (TCC) work together with the public and other stakeholders to conduct a comprehensive, cooperative, and continuing planning process.
