French Broad River MPO

About French Broad River Metropolitan Planning Organization 

The French Broad River MPO is a partnership between local and state government that makes decisions about transportation planning in urbanized areas and meets planning requirements established by federal authorizing legislation for transportation funding.  Local governments belonging to the MPO are Buncombe, Haywood and Henderson Counties, and Asheville, Biltmore Forest, Black Mountain, Canton, Clyde, Flat Rock, Fletcher, Hendersonville, Laurel Park, Maggie Valley, Mills River, Montreat, Waynesville, Weaverville, and Woodfin. Regional Travel Survey Now Underway! 

Households across the region will receive letters with a request to participate in late April through early June 2013.  See more info here and here. Transit ridership survey portion will take place from May 20th through May 31st--expect survey takers on Apple Country Transit and Asheville Transit buses!

FBRMPO 2012-2020 TIP Amendment to include summary funding table will be taken up for adoption on Thursday, May 23rd during the TAC Meeting. FBRMPO Call for Transportation Planning Special Studies for FY 2013-2014 currently closed; TAC to vote on study project selection on May 23rd.  See more information.  Studies require a 20% local match and have to be sponsored by a local jurisdiction which is a member of FBRMPO.

I-4400/I-4700 I-26 Widening from U.S. 25 to I-40 project--Public Information Meeting was be held on January 31, 4 PM-7 PM at WNC Ag Center.  If you have comments regarding this project please contact Undrea Major by March 1, 2013 at ujmajor@ncdot.gov.  See additional info about the project on the TIP page.

Wilma Dykeman Riverway RADTIP Study public meeting #3 was held on Thursday, December 6, 2012 from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Dr. Wesley Grant Sr. Southside Center, 285 Livingston Street, Asheville, NC, 28801.  Project information is available on the City’s website

NCDOT has adopted the 2040 Plan, 30-year transportation blueprint for the state.  The final 2040 Plan may be viewed at www.ncdot.gov/performance/reform/2040Plan/

FBRMPO New Board Member orientation took place on Thursday, July 26th 9 AM-12:Noon. You can see the presentations here.
